Kia's first US factory on track for 2009 |
Kia motors, South Korea's second-largest automaker, said that construction of its first US plant is proceeding on schedule and will open as late next year. Kia announced in 2006 it would build the facility at a cost of $1.2 billion, employ 2500 workers and start production in 2009. The plant is expected to produce 300,000 vehicles per year at maximum capacity. Kia is an affiliate of Hyundai motors
